One of the biggest challenges I have dealt with concerning food allergies has been going to parties. There is nothing worse than attending a party when you have food restrictions and feeling like there is NOTHING you can eat (crying emoji)
When I developed food sensitivities in college, it made it challenging to attend events and parties. I would try to eat before I went for fear that they wouldn't have anything that was non-dairy, wheat-free, gluten-free, or yeast-free... other than maybe some vegetables. But what do you do when your going to a party where you are supposed to eat dinner?!
I began offering to bring something I knew I could eat!
I would text the host and say, "Hey, so excited about coming Friday... what can I bring? (then suggest something you know you can eat) they are usually so thankful to have an additional item and something they don't have to make and you have something you can eat!
This has been a lifesaver for me when I am attending a party that I know will have food that I am not going to be able to eat without suffering later. And you don't have to deal with explaining to everyone what and why you cant eat. Try it the next time your invited to a get together!
